vanWinkle - 2013.02.14

from 3m33s by Various

/

about

2013.02.14, composed under the working title "death of theseus" is part of a song cycle influenced by the Greek legend of Theseus, the fabled founder-king of Athens and a hero fathered by two men…one mortal, the other immortal.

The song's components were sourced from the 14-second "theme" played at the head of each Radius experimental radio broadcast (theradius.us). Like a myth reworked through generations of retelling, the two pieces share a fundamental musical DNA but differ widely in the creative aural and temporal application of those essential components.
